In recognition of the care the college provides its trees, the Arbor Day Foundation has named Waubonsee Community College as a Tree Campus USA for 2014, the fifth straight year in which the college earned the designation.

Chicago's longest running short-form improv comedy show, ComedySportz, brings its show to Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove March 7.

The Waubonsee Foundation has elected Dr. Amaal Tokars, Kendall County Health Department Executive Director/Public Health Administrator, to its board of directors.

On March 10, Waubonsee Community College will celebrate the opening of its new Field House and a renovated Erickson Hall. The event will also mark the completion, on time and on budget, of the college's 2020 College Master Plan, a multi-year building and improvement project spanning more than a decade and including two new campuses in Aurora and Plano and five new buildings on the Sugar Grove Campus.

Waubonsee Community College Industrial Systems Technology Assistant Professor Shawn Ballee has been selected to serve on a manufactural national expert panel by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).

Before coming to Waubonsee Community College, student Anna Dutton, of Oswego, was named Northern Illinois' High School Journalist of the Year. Aided by a prestigious Lucile Gustafson Scholarship, Dutton is now using her time at Waubonsee to grow as a writer - in the classroom, through internships with local newspapers, and other media - as she prepares to launch her career in coming years.

Waubonsee Community College Dean for Students Scott Peska has been selected to serve on the editorial board for the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, published by De Gruyter.

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees thanked retiring local sheriffs, Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez and Kendall County Sheriff Richard Randall, for their years of service to Waubonsee's home communities.

Waubonsee Community College's art spaces will host exhibitions through March, including "Unsoiled" by Allison Grant in the Arrowhead Room gallery in the Dickson Center on Waubonsee's Sugar Grove Campus.

The EMT-Paramedic program administered by Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Delnor Hospital in Geneva, has secured initial accreditation from the Committee on Accreditation forEmergency Medical Services Professions, an accreditation committee of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The accreditation means Waubonsee EMT-Paramedic students will be eligible for national certification, enabling them to work anywhere in the U.S.
