Celebrating half a century of shaping students' futures
During the 2016-2017 school year, Waubonsee celebrated its “Proud Past, Bold Future” and marked the college's 50 anniversary. We commemorated the occasion with a variety of initiatives, events and celebrations. Our history is just the beginning.

Waubonsee was established in August 1966 when the electorate of 12 school districts in most of Kane and portions of Kendall, DeKalb, LaSalle and Will counties voted to establish Community College District 516. That means just five decades ago, students made the choice to begin shaping their futures at Waubonsee.
50 Hours of Caring
As part of our anniversary celebration, Waubonsee faculty, staff, administrators and students were challenged to complete 50 hours of community service individually or as a team of no more than five members. The volunteer or community service work was not required to be connected to one’s educational or academic profession. Giving back to our communities was a great way to celebrate our partnerships and support over the years!
