Financial aid supports a variety of student needs—and empowers student goals

Your dreams are big, but your tuition payments don't need to be. Funding your education is easier with the help of federal, state and private resources, and financial aid can be awarded for academic achievement and/or financial need.

At Waubonsee, we offer four types of financial aid.

Scholarships are educational funds that do not need to be repaid. Scholarships are available from a variety of sources, including the Waubonsee Community College Foundation and other organizations. They can be awarded based on a variety of criteria including academic achievement, financial need and area of study.

Loans must be repaid. Waubonsee students can receive direct loans from the federal government.

Work-Study involves a job on campus, which pays you a salary to help finance your education and other costs. Your FAFSA information determines your eligibility for a work-study job.

Applying for grants, loans and work-study jobs requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Undocumented and transgender students can use the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid to apply for state grants. Scholarships have a different application process.
