Charge Statement

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Taskforce is formally charged with guiding Waubonsee Community College’s strategic planning and implementation of AI technologies in ways that uphold the institution’s mission and core values. This charge aligns with the RISE 2030 Plan’s commitment to educational innovation, equity, and student-centered transformation. The Taskforce will provide leadership and recommendations that ensure AI is integrated ethically, equitably, and effectively across the institution.

Specifically, the Taskforce shall:

  1. Evaluate current and emerging applications of AI in teaching, learning, student services, and administrative functions to identify opportunities that enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
  2. Develop ethical and usage frameworks for AI that align with Waubonsee’s values, HLC accreditation expectations, and the principles of academic integrity and equity.
  3. Recommend policy and professional development strategies to support AI literacy and preparedness among faculty, staff, and students, ensuring that all members of the College community are equipped to navigate and shape an AI-informed future.
  4. Identify curricular innovations and workforce integration opportunities that incorporate AI competencies into academic programs and career pathways, advancing inclusive access to future-ready education.
  5. Propose governance structures and oversight models that support transparent, inclusive, and adaptive approaches to AI-related decision-making.

The Taskforce will operate through collaborative, evidence-based inquiry, supporting Waubonsee’s strategic goal of becoming a resilient, innovative, and student-focused institution in the years ahead.

Waubonsee AI Value Statement

At Waubonsee, we believe AI should strengthen—not replace—human connection.

  • When an AI tool creates more opportunities for people to learn, work, and connect with one another, it is worth our curiosity and exploration.
  • When an AI tool reduces or limits opportunities for human-to-human interaction, it must be carefully examined in collaboration with others.

Neither outcome is fixed. Each moment of choice is an inflection point—an opportunity to ensure that people remain at the center of learning, work, and community.
