Dr. Scott Peska, Dean for Students at Waubonsee Community College, will represent the college as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice.
Independent academic publishing group De Gruyter selected Peska for the position helping to oversee the journal. Peska will serve on the journal’s editorial board for a three-year term, beginning March 22, 2015.
As a member of the editorial board, Peska will serve among those who review manuscripts and provide guidance to authors to ensure articles are suitable for publication in the journal.
Peska said he hopes to use the position to “ensure the community-college perspective is being addressed in scholarly works within the field of student affairs.”
“As the JSARP journal invites empirical research-based articles, conceptual ‘think’ pieces, scholarly book reviews or case studies, this opportunity allows me to encourage authors to think critically in regard to issues and challenges facing community colleges,” Peska said.
He said he also hopes the experience will provide insight on strategies to employ at Waubonsee to help students and the college attain goals.
