Sugar Grove – The Dean’s List at Waubonsee Community College celebrates excellence among students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average out of a possible 4.0 while enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours.

Waubonsee Community College is one of three colleges in Illinois and the only community college in the state to recently receive a Title V grant to strengthen and expand educational opportunities for Hispanic and low-income students, but that is only the beginning.

Students can prepare themselves to earn industry-standard IT certifications in cybersecurity with the Waubonsee Community College Cybersecurity Program.

Sobek, President of Waubonsee Community College, proudly hosted the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United States, Gaston Stronck, and Mr. Kevin Wester, former Executive Director of the Luxemburg Cultural Society in Belgium, Wisconsin, on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the college’s Sugar Grove Campus.

Next month, I will celebrate my 20th anniversary as President of Waubonsee Community College. I began writing a monthly column in July 2010, making this the end of the eleventh year of columns. Over these years it has been a way for me to share with the Waubonsee community and the community at large many of the great and exciting opportunities at the college and to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and employees.

Dr. Aaron Lawler, Assistant Professor of Humanities, was awarded the 2021 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition. This award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond what is required to ensure that students succeed in their academic endeavors.

Waubonsee Community College is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Horizons, an annual, literary magazine designed by students in Waubonsee’s Creative Writing Club.

Waubonsee Community College announces its 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient. Dr. Indigo Debra Triplett is this year’s Distinguished Alumnus.

A Waubonsee Community College alumnus has been recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman is one of three selected for AACC’s 2021 Outstanding Alumni Award.
