Last night, at the March board meeting, Dr. Christine Sobek, President of Waubonsee Community College, announced her intent to retire as president of the college at the end of the calendar year 2022.

During her time as a student, Mozelle Kempiak, of Marseilles, earned a reputation as a compassionate competitor as the Waubonsee Women’s Basketball Team Captain leading the team to a 2017-2018 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) Co-Champion Conference Title her sophomore year. 

There is no better way to celebrate Women’s History Month in the Fox Valley than by celebrating a new career for a female in Major League Baseball (MLB). 

Educators have always been the definitive influencers and motivators in my life. Because of them, I have learned to know my marks and to own them, I have learned to tell my own personal stories, and I have learned that relying on others and forming true connections with my mentors is an invaluable resource.

Waubonsee Community College continues to host events in March to celebrate Women’s History Month. These events are virtual, free, and open to the public.

Over the years, data has shown that the demand for skilled workers in various industries is ever increasing. How do we, as an educational institution, fill the employment gaps that exist in our region? Community colleges are the beginning of a pathway.

The artwork of three Waubonsee students has been selected for inclusion in the Skyway Juried Art Competition 2022, hosted by McHenry County College.

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to keep the college’s tuition rate steady for the 2022–2023 academic year. The current in-district tuition rate of $132 per credit hour will remain in effect through next year, as will the current student fee of $8 per credit hour.

Waubonsee Community College recently selected Dr. Sara Gregory and Heather Engelhart as its Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Members for 2022.

The Dean’s List at Waubonsee Community College celebrates excellence among students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average out of a possible 4.0 while enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours.
