Saúl Olivas, now a teacher assistant for special needs students in East Aurora School District 131, has leveraged his Waubonsee education and experiences into a career built on understanding for students who, much like him, might just need a bit of guidance and a patient hand up.

Encouraging Women in STEM

Why is it important to get more women into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)? Many reasons! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, women are now earning a larger proportion of college degrees than men, yet they make up only 26 percent of the STEM workforce. STEM jobs are generally well-paying jobs, and research shows that when women in a society are financially independent and stable, the society as a whole does better.

Waubonsee Dedicates Field House, Celebrates 2020 Plan Completion

Waubonsee Community College celebrated twin feats - dedicating its new Field House and newly renovated Erickson Hall, the project which served as the capstone of the college's 2020 College Master Plan, a 14-year-long building project to improve and prepare the college to respond to the needs of the community in 2020 and beyond.
