Taking care of your academic and personal information

Keeping your academic and personal information accurate and secure is important to us. Whether you need to update your address, change your name, or learn more about student privacy, Registration and Records is here to help.

Updating Your Information
Has your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or other information changed? We are here to keep your record accurate and up to date!

Legal Information Change

Changes to your legal name, date of birth, or social security number must be done in person.

Legal information changes require documentation such as:

  • Marriage License
  • Official Court Documentation
  • Birth Certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • A copy of your Social Security Card (signed)

You can stop by the Registration and Records office at any of the four campuses to make your update using the Student Information Change Form. Please see the services directory for hours.

Address and Preferred/Chosen Name Changes

Students may update their mailing address, legal residence address, telephone number, email address, and preferred/chosen name online through mywcc using the Online Contact Information Change Form.

These updates also may be submitted in person or by email using the Student Information Change Form.

Students moving from an out-of-district address to an in-district address may be required to provide residency verification before tuition charges are updated.

Preferred/Chosen Name

Students have the option to provide a preferred/chosen first name using either the Online Contact Information Change Form or the Student Information Change Form. Preferred/chosen names are recorded in the Student Information System and will appear in the following locations:

  • Canvas (Learning Management System)
  • mywcc
    • Student profile
    • Self-service
  • Class List/Roster
  • Unofficial Transcript

As we work toward more systems integrating preferred names, this list will be updated.

At this time, preferred names may contain letters, spaces, hyphens, and apostrophes only. Numbers, symbols, emojis, and other special characters are not permitted.

Note: Your legal name will always appear on your official transcript and financial documents, including the 1098‑T.
