Mission

The mission of the Waubonsee Nursing Program is to educate students to be safe, caring, competent and contributing members of the nursing profession engaged in meeting the health needs of diverse populations. As part of a learning-centered college community, the nursing faculty is committed to shaping students' futures through learning and professional development.

Philosophy

Our program reflects the college philosophy and is based on the premise that quality nursing education is the cornerstone of the professional nurse. Nursing faculty believe that learning is a life-long process, and that the pursuit of knowledge must be supported by institutional policies which demonstrate the core values of accessibility, service, value, quality and innovation. Both the AAS in Nursing and the AS Nursing Transfer degree programs are designed to educate foundational, entry-level professionals and prepare those wishing to continue their education in pursuit of a baccalaureate nursing degree. Academic and Career Advising is available to assist students with choosing the right program of study that will achieve their educational goals and transfer to their chosen four-year school.

Accreditation

The Associate Degree in Nursing Program at Waubonsee Community College is accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
