Waubonsee Engineering Student Honored with Statewide ILACHE Scholarship

The Illinois Latino Council of Higher Education (ILACHE) has named Waubonsee Community College student, Daniel Basurto, of Aurora, as one of five 2026 Undergraduate Student Scholarship winners across Illinois. Basurto was selected for his outstanding commitment to leadership, community service, and learning.

Basurto’s growth as a rising student leader at Waubonsee began shortly after graduating from Oswego High School.

Waubonsee to Host Illinois State Robotics Championships, March 13-14

Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Fox Valley Robotics, will host the 2026 VEX V5 Robotics State Championship on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. The two-day competition will take place in the Academic and Professional Center at the Sugar Grove Campus, Rt. 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Admission for spectators is free, and the public is invited to attend.

Waubonsee Announces 2026-2027 Tuition Rates

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has approved tuition rates for the 2026-2027 academic year. Beginning with the fall 2026 semester, the college’s in-district and online tuition rate will increase from $141 to $146 per credit hour. The student fee will remain the same at $8 per credit hour.

On Jan. 29, 2026, Waubonsee Community College celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at its “RISE as One: A Community Tribute." The evening of reflection, learning, and recognition culminated in the presentation of the college’s first-ever RISE to the Dream Awards.
