Each year, Waubonsee Community College names an Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member. This award recognizes faculty who exemplify the college’s mission by enriching lives through learning, fostering curiosity, and promoting a culture of inclusion and community engagement. This year’s Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member is Holly Schmidt, Adjunct Faculty in Arts and Humanities. Schmidt has served Waubonsee as an adjunct since 2010.

Each year, Waubonsee Community College recognizes an Outstanding Faculty Member who exemplifies the college’s mission through a commitment to enriching the lives of students, colleagues, and the community. This year’s Outstanding Faculty Member is Dr. Emily Heller, Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Health Education, who has served as a full-time faculty member at Waubonsee since 2017.

Waubonsee Community College has officially unveiled its new Center for Student Assistance on the Sugar Grove Campus, establishing a comprehensive hub dedicated to providing long-term support for students.

The Waubonsee Community College Foundation will host its annual golf outing fundraiser on Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurora Country Club, and the community is invited to make a difference while enjoying a day on the course.

Following a highly successful spring pilot launch, Waubonsee Community College’s free campus shuttle provided over 830 rides to 107 unique riders, saving local students more than 8,300 miles of travel between the college’s Sugar Grove and Aurora Downtown Campuses since January.

Waubonsee Community College showcased its growing national prominence in higher education marketing and public relations during the annual gathering of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) 2026 Leadership Institute.

In the mid 1960’s, the landscape of Illinois higher education was about to change forever. The passage of the state’s landmark Comprehensive Community College Act on July 15, 1965, triggered the development of new institutions across Illinois, including Waubonsee Community College. 

Waubonsee Community College is hosting a community-wide, family-friendly celebration to honor its landmark 60th anniversary. The “Back-to-School, Back-to-Cool!" event will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Waubonsee Community College is inviting community members to attend a panel discussion in honor of the Juneteenth season, titled "Beyond Celebration: Black Voices, Lasting Legacy." This free event is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at Waubonsee's Sugar Grove Campus.

A Waubonsee Community College student has been named the best collision damage appraisal student in the country. Benjamin Swanson, of Aurora, earned the national championship title at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference.
