As the spring semester kicks off, Waubonsee Community College is removing barriers for students with the launch of a new, free shuttle bus service. Starting January 20, 2026, the first day of the college’s spring semester, students can travel seamlessly between the Sugar Grove and Aurora Downtown Campuses at no cost.

Waubonsee Community College (WCC) and Aurora University (AU) recently signed a new Early Interest/Admission Agreement that gives local students a highly structured and supportive path to earning both an associate and bachelor’s degree in their home community.

Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Ladder Up, will provide free tax preparation services at the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus, located at 18 S. River Street. These services are available to the community on Saturdays, Jan. 31 through Apr. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis only, and the site will close when capacity is reached.  

Waubonsee Community College invites students, faculty and staff, alumni, and community members to an in-person tribute, “RISE as One: A Community Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” The evening of reflection and unity will feature keynote speaker Clayton Muhammad and take place on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the college’s Sugar Grove Campus in the Academic and Professional Center. The event is free and open to the public. 

Waubonsee Community College is proud to announce the launch of a new pilot shuttle bus service designed to provide free and convenient transportation between its Sugar Grove and Aurora Downtown Campuses.

Nominations are currently being accepted for Waubonsee Community College’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominations must be received by Saturday, January 31, 2026, to be considered for this year.

Waubonsee Community College proudly hosted Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Emanuel Chris Welch on Thursday, December 4, at the college’s Sugar Grove Campus. He was joined by State Representative Matt Hanson.

Waubonsee Community College hosted its inaugural Legislative Roundtable on December 8 at the college’s Sugar Grove Campus, securing high-level support from state and federal policymakers.

Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce that the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI), an official affiliate of the Road Scholar program, is the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Contributor Award. This award recognizes individuals or groups who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to advancing the college and its mission.

Waubonsee Community College invites the community to attend its annual series of December concerts. These performances serve as a culminating showcase of student and faculty talent from a variety of musical styles and performing groups. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
