Waubonsee Community College earned three 2026 Medallion Awards for excellence in marketing and communications at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.

The NCMPR District 3 Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in marketing and public relations among community and technical colleges across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Ontario. Waubonsee was honored in three competitive categories:

  • Silver Medallion: WCC Student Experience Card
  • Silver Medallion: Marketing for Waubonsee’s 2026 MLK Ceremony
  • Bronze Medallion: Waubonsee Foundation E-Report, Together We RISE

These regional honors reinforce Waubonsee’s reputation for excellence in strategic branding and storytelling. Earlier this year, Waubonsee received an NCMPR Paragon Award, the council’s highest distinction.

“This recognition reflects the creativity, strategy, and excellence behind how we tell Waubonsee’s story,” said Dr. Toya Webb, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff. “Our work is grounded in a clear commitment to student success, community impact, and creating pathways to opportunity. Through innovative marketing, compelling storytelling, and an authentic brand, we are bringing Waubonsee’s mission to life in ways that reflect who we are, what we value, and the impact we make in the lives of our students and communities.”

At the heart of the award-winning campaigns is RISE 2030, Waubonsee’s visionary five-year strategic plan. Anchored by four foundational pillars—Redefine Our Relationship with the Community, Invest in Academic Innovation, Strengthen the Student Experience, and Enrich the Employee Experience—RISE 2030 positions Waubonsee as a catalyst for opportunity across the region.

Beyond the awards ceremony, Waubonsee’s RISE 2030 strategic framework captured center stage at the conference. Dr. Webb presented to a standing-room-only crowd on "RISE 2030: How Branding Transformed a Strategic Plan into a Campus Movement." The session showcased how the college empowered more than 170 Waubonsee employees and students as active co-creators of RISE, bringing the strategic plan to life.

Dr. Webb currently serves as Vice President and President-Elect of NCMPR and will be formally installed as National President when NCMPR convenes for its National Conference in Chicago this coming March.

NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. With more than 1,700 members from nearly 500 colleges across the United States and Canada, NCMPR provides professional development, honors creative excellence, and advocates for two-year college communications.
