The week-long events celebrate the history and mission of Waubonsee Community College and are open to community, students, faculty, staff, and alumni. 

Waubonsee Celebrates Impact and Influence of Latinx Heritage as a Hispanic Serving Institution

Waubonsee Community College will host a series of engaging events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and National-Hispanic Serving Institutions Week. These events seek to recognize and honor the contributions and profound influence of Latinx culture on both American society and the college as a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). These free events are open to the public and will take place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

Waubonsee Student Receives Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship

Waubonsee Community College Student Olivia Nieves, of Plano, has been named a 2023 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship. 

Waubonsee Announces Inaugural Recipient of Dr. Christine J. Sobek Outstanding Administrator Award

Waubonsee Community College has announced Jessica Moreno, Dean for Academic Support, as the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Christine J. Sobek Outstanding Administrator Award. Moreno has served the college since 2009. 

Waubonsee Hosts Free Concert with Grammy-Nominated Victor Garcia

Waubonsee Community College will host a free concert, featuring a live musical performance by Grammy-nominated Chicago trumpeter Victor Garcia and his Organ Quartet, on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert will take place in the Auditorium of Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. This free event is open to the public.

As an adjunct faculty member in the Adult Education Department at Waubonsee, I've seen firsthand how technology can improve the learning process for students. When used correctly, technology can assist educators in engaging students, customizing lessons, and providing access to otherwise unavailable resources. With the academic year quickly approaching, I'd like to offer some tips that can benefit students and instructors.
