Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
Waubonsee's heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) program offers students a comprehensive curriculum to prepare them for jobs in both residential and commercial settings. There are 10 hands-on HVAC courses in which students learn by doing, plus two certification courses. Students can also earn credit by completing an internship.
HVAC students choose from a variety of electives to round out their programs of study. These include advanced HVAC courses and course related to wiring and industrial control systems. A popular elective is the new RET 170 Geothermal Systems course in which students work with Waubonsee's fully functional campus geothermal installation.
Waubonsee also gives HVAC students service learning opportunities. Students work as a team to do anything from servicing HVAC systems to replacing entire heating and cooling systems.
