Studying Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning at Waubonsee


HVAC at Waubonsee is a hands-on program, where students learn by doing in well-equipped labs and on real-world equipment.

Skilled instructors lead students through training on a wide variety of systems, and elective courses like wiring and industrial control systems enhance your education.

Our program promotes a culture of personal and workplace safety: students earn the OSHA-10 card; certification in the EPA Federal Clean Air Act, Section 608; and Ladder Safety protocols.

You’ll gain real-world experience through service opportunities, with student teams servicing HVAC systems, replacing entire heating and cooling systems and more.

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVACR/R) program is committed to providing accessible, high-quality applied technical education and training needed for employment or advancement within the industry.


HVACR Program Goals

  • To produce highly-skilled HVAC professionals in all areas of the HVAC industry;
  • To collaborate closely with business and industry within the community;
  • To offer seamless transitions for high school students into the HVAC program;
  • To seek feedback and guidance from advisory committee members, employers and students to continually update and improve the program;
  • To provide applied hands-on technical training;
  • To remain continually updated on teaching methodologies that can be applied to the HVAC curriculum.
