Hello,

Thank you for your interest in The Hartford’s apprenticeship opportunity. This apprenticeship is not aligned with any specific program of study, and any Waubonsee degree-seeking student is eligible to apply. Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Applicants do not need to be current Waubonsee students; however, if hired, they must be enrolled in a Waubonsee degree program by their start date.

Apprentices begin working full-time in The Hartford’s Catastrophe Division, with opportunities to move into other divisions as training progresses. Apprentices earn $27 per hour plus benefits while receiving on-the-job training and attending school to complete their degree. The Hartford covers degree-related tuition and fees for apprentices, up to $5,250 per calendar year (additional specifications and guidelines apply). There are 10 apprentice openings, and graduates of the program have multiple pathways for advancement within the company.

Information sessions will be held via Zoom on March 2, 3, and 4, 2026. Each session will cover the same information and include time for questions. Please come with any questions you have. Please register in advance using the links below for whichever session(s) you plan to attend. You may need to ensure that Zoom is downloaded and accessible prior to the session.

If you have questions, please contact Lori Coppa (apprentice@thehartford.com) or apprenticeships@waubonsee.edu. If you are unable to attend an information session but are interested in the apprenticeship, please email apprentice@thehartford.com and indicate that you are (or will be) a Waubonsee student.

Earning While Learning

Apprenticeship is a structured work-based learning model that supports professional development by providing concurrent on-the-job training and education. Apprenticeship programs are defined career pathways for people of all ages who want to earn a competitive salary while attending college. Employers that participate in apprenticeship programs cut recruitment costs while gaining a skilled workforce. Employers have the option of partnering with Waubonsee on unregistered apprenticeships or apprenticeships registered with the Department of Labor.
