Taking care of your academic and personal information

Keeping your academic and personal information accurate and secure is important to us. Whether you need to update your address, change your name, or learn more about student privacy, Registration and Records is here to help.

Updating Your Information

Has your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or other information changed? We are here to keep your record accurate and up to date!

Legal Information Change

Changes to your legal name, date of birth, or social security number must be done in person.

Legal information changes require documentation such as:

  • Marriage License
  • Official Court Documentation
  • Birth Certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • A copy of your Social Security Card (signed)

You can stop by the Registration and Records office at any of the four campuses to make your update using the Student Information Change Form. Please see the services directory for hours.

Address and preferred name changes

Changes to your address, phone number, email, and adding or changing your preferred name can be done in person or by email using the Student Information Change Form.

Your mailing address, legal residence, telephone and email information can be changed online in mywcc using the Online Address Change Request form.

Preferred/Chosen Name

Students have the option to provide a preferred/chosen first name using the Student Information Change Form, which will be recorded in the Student Information System.  This name will appear in the following locations:

  • Canvas (Learning Management System)
  • Mywcc
    • Student profile
    • Self-service
  • Class list/roster
  • Unofficial transcript

As we work toward more systems integrating preferred names, this list will be updated.

Note: Your legal name will always appear on your official transcript and financial documents, including the 1098-T.
