As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening the student experience, Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois, will launch a free, on-campus after-school care program for children of its students at the Aurora Downtown Campus, 18 S. River St.

Beginning this month, the program will serve elementary-aged children, kindergarten through fifth grade, of enrolled Waubonsee students. It will operate Monday through Thursday from 3:45 to 9:30 p.m., aligning with evening class schedules offered at the Aurora Downtown Campus.

This community-based partnership fills a critical gap by providing safe, reliable, and accessible care. According to a recent survey, 18% of Waubonsee students identified as parents.

This initiative is designed to strengthen the student experience by removing barriers -- one priority of the college’s five-year RISE 2030 strategic plan. The plan focuses on: Redefining Waubonsee's Relationship with the Community, Investing in Academic Innovation, Strengthening the Student Experience, and Enriching the Employee Experience.
