Sociology of Sex and Gender examines the multifaceted complexities between sex and gender using sociological theories. Social construction of gender and its impact on individuals in environments and groups are explored. The gendered individual and social consequences on changing social definitions in family, work, intimate relationships, education, economy, health, communication and violence are discussed.

Required face-to-face class meetings are Mondays & Wednesdays, 11:00 - 12:15 PM. NOTE: Students registering for this section must also register for ENG.099.460 (CRN:10117) and ENG (CRN 10119). ENG.101.460 and SOC.230.002 are combined to create an exciting and new learning experience for students. Both courses will be taught by two instructors at the same time, to foster dialogue, debate, and discussion. Both classes will be a part of a community where learners can engage one another in meaningful and memorable ways! This course uses Open Educational Resources (OER) instead of traditional textbooks, so there is no cost for course materials. Your instructor will provide direct access to all required materials through the course syllabus or on Canvas.
