Waubonsee Community College will host College Night on Monday, Oct. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. on its Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive, in the Academic and Professional Center. This event is open to the public.

A Decade in the Making: Waubonsee Opens Technical Education Center, Expands Opportunities for Students and Community

For the first time in over 10 years, Waubonsee Community College has opened a brand-new facility with the unveiling of its 100,000-square-foot Technical Education Center (TEC). More than 750 community members, students, and local leaders gathered on the Sugar Grove Campus last week to celebrate a milestone in technical education across the region.

Waubonsee Hosts 100 Days at Ground Zero Presentation on Sept. 11

Waubonsee Community College invites students, employees, alumni, and community members to an in-person and virtual presentation, 100 Days at Ground Zero, led by hosted by Dr. Mike Fagel, emergency responder, public safety expert, and 9/11 survivor. The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on the college’s Sugar Grove Campus in the Academic and Professional Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Waubonsee Opens 100,000-Square-Foot Technical Education Center with Grand Opening and Cruise Night, Sept. 12

Waubonsee Community College is proud to celebrate the grand opening of its state-of-the-art 100,000-square-foot Technical Education Center (TEC) on Friday, Sept. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Campus. The evening will include a Cruise Night on the south end of campus. All are welcome.

Waubonsee Foundation to Host 38th Annual Golf Outing on September 15

The Waubonsee Community College Foundation will host its annual golf outing fundraiser on Monday, September 15, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurora Country Club, and the community is invited to make a difference while enjoying a day on the course. Proceeds from this event solely benefit the Waubonsee Foundation Scholarship Program, which aids hundreds of Waubonsee students each year in achieving their educational and career goals.

Waubonsee Announces 2025 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member

Each year, Waubonsee Community College names an Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member. This award recognizes faculty who exemplify the college’s mission by enriching lives through learning, fostering curiosity, and promoting a culture of inclusion and community engagement. This year’s Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member is Audrey Farrell, Instructor of Personal Wellness and Yoga. Farrell has served Waubonsee as an adjunct since 2022.

Waubonsee Joins Aspen Institute Program to Improve Student Outcomes

Today, Waubonsee Community College joins the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program’s expanded Unlocking Opportunity network—an initiative designed to help community colleges reform programs in ways that improve student outcomes—ensuring students earn degrees that lead to good-paying jobs.

Waubonsee Accepting Nominations for 2025 Distinguished Contributor

Nominations are currently being accepted for Waubonsee Community College’s 2025 Distinguished Contributor Award. Nominations must be received by August 29, 2025, to be considered for this year.

Waubonsee to Launch Free, After-School Care Program at Aurora Downtown Campus

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening the student experience, Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois, will launch a free, on-campus after-school care program for children of its students at the Aurora Downtown Campus, 18 S. River St.
