Waubonsee Class of 2022 Graduates Reflect on Experience as ‘Stepping Stone’ to Greatness

Since 1968, Waubonsee Community College has awarded 28,429 associate degrees. And newly added to this number are 877 members of the Class of 2022. It is no secret that many of these graduates have navigated obstacles and overcame barriers once believed impossible in higher education.     

Waubonsee Students Selected for 2022 All-Illinois Academic Team

Two Waubonsee Community College students will be honored among Illinois' top community college students. Waubonsee students Jennifer Tripathi, of Aurora, and Jatniel Morales Gomez, of Oswego, were chosen for the Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team.

As an automotive professor, I always believed education in a community college is a place for growth for people of all ages and levels. It is a place with a positive atmosphere where one can grow academically and socially. 

AACC Recognizes Waubonsee Alumnus with Outstanding Alumni Award

A Waubonsee Community College alumnus has been recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Dr. Indigo Debra Triplett, a Waubonsee alumna and Waubonsee’s 2021 Distinguished Alumnus, was recognized as one of three 2022 Outstanding Alumni Award winners by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Entrepreneur, consultant, and author, Dr. Indigo, was recognized May 3 during the Outstanding Alumni Celebration at AACC Annual in New York City.

Waubonsee Community College received national recognition at the recent 2022 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) annual conference in New York City. College leaders received recognition for the positive impact they have personally made at the college, in the classroom, and across the nation. 

First Generation Biology Student Gets ‘Second Chance’ at Waubonsee, Selected Nationally for Research Immersion Program

For Waubonsee student Kaithren Garcia, a first-generation Latina, of Aurora, succeeding academically did not always come easy. Yet, as Garcia prepares to walk across the stage at Waubonsee’s 54th commencement ceremony on May 14 to receive her Associate in Science in Biology, she is energized and excited for what lies ahead.

When you use your favorite product or service, what is the feeling you get? Do you know the mission of the company that created it? Do you know why that company or organization exists? When an organization updates its mission statement, the details of what goes behind those changes are often left out. Suddenly, you notice that the product you have always used has changed its logo or packaging one day. No notice is given, and sometimes not even a reason is provided externally. Waubonsee Hosts Open House & Latin Jazz During First Fridays

Waubonsee Community College will host an open house at the Aurora Downtown Campus on Friday, May 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. during Aurora's First Fridays. This family-friendly event is free and open to the community.
