John Wu, Director of Emergency Management and Safety at Waubonsee Community College, has been selected to serve as chairman of the board of directors for the Fox Valley United Way in Aurora.

Summer brings a wealth of opportunities for getting out and experiencing all the region has to offer. While concerts abound and carnivals beckon, some of our favorite summertime options can be found in the area’s parks and galleries, where works of local artists find an audience in public art fairs and shows.

When evaluating the value of a college education, or even a college campus itself, the discussion often turns to the down-to-earth, economic, dollars-and-cents metrics of jobs and careers. It’s a discussion that Waubonsee Community College faculty and staff, along with many of our colleagues in community colleges across the nation, love to have.We are all proud of the affordable, quality education we offer to help our students pursue their dreams and become contributing members of the local workforce. 

Waubonsee student Jose Martinez-Joya, of Carpentersville, placed first among all contestants in the Auto Refinishing Technology category at the SkillsUSA National Skills Competition in June.

Waubonsee Vice President of Finance and Operations David Quillen has been reappointed to the Geneva Economic Development Commission.

Waubonsee Professor Cynthia Perez will again exhibit her artwork, this time at a show in Orlando, Fla., running July 17-Aug. 15.
