Learn about the science behind dating and relationships as part of Waubonsee Community College’s ongoing Community Education series, “Asset Earth.” At 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, Waubonsee biology instructor Justin Hoshaw presents “What Science Can Teach You About Dating, Love and Sex (That Sex Ed Didn’t).”

Waubonsee Community College will hold a Recognition Ceremony for those completing the Communities of Excellence program on Wednesday, October 28. Established in April 2014, the program provides training on skills and topics required for public sector employees to grow professionally, contribute more to their organizations and respond to change in government.

This year, Waubonsee Community College is joining the rest of the country in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was signed into law July 26, 1990. Our celebratory event – to take place later this month – will inspire us all to reflect on Waubonsee’s proud history of a commitment to accessibility and reaffirm our united, all-inclusive approach.

Twenty-five years have passed since the signing of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). While this quarter-century mark prompts us to measure our progress, at Waubonsee Community College we take pride in our tradition of accessibility and a commitment to service that pre-dates the legislation. When legislation is passed, people often ask: Whose job will it be to implement this, and what’s the deadline? When it comes to accessibility, the answer is that it is everyone’s responsibility; every day.

Waubonsee Community College is seeking input from community members as it plans celebrations for its 50th anniversary, which will be observed in 2016.
