This course introduces students to the knowledge and reference sources needed to navigate complex ethical issues that may arise in the law office. Students will learn to: identify the unauthorized practice of law; apply the American Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct; interpret disciplinary procedures and understand malpractice; use the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission's Client Trust Account Handbook to ensure the use of ethical billing practices; and assess actions that can lead to confidentiality breaches and conflicts of interest. Through interactive activities, students will learn to apply ethical principles and legal professional standards to real-world scenarios.. Prereq, PLG110 or concurrent enrollment

"A blend of face-to-face class meetings in a traditional classroom and asynchronously online. Required face-to-face class meetings are: Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. - 9:15 p.m. Scheduled on campus days: 08/20, 09/03, 09/17, 10/01, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, 12/03. Students can register for both courses that are scheduled at the same day and time as they meet face-to-face on opposite weeks. This course is utilizing Open Educational Resources (OER). No textbook purchase is required and there will be no cost for course materials."
