This program prepares individuals for employment as Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselors (CADC) in organizations that serve persons with substance use disorders (SUD). The program is accredited by the Illinois Certification Board at the Preparatory and Advanced level. Individuals completing this certificate program at the Preparatory level and passing the CADC exam must also obtain 4000 hours of supervised work experience in the SUD treatment field upon completion to become fully certified. Individuals with a Baccalaureate or Graduate degree in human services receive advanced standing and are certified at the Advanced level upon completion of the exam. They are not required to obtain 4000 hours of supervised work experience upon completion.
