This hands-on, noncredit course builds on concepts from C-101 and prepares students to install, adjust, align, tension, operate, and analyze basic mechanical power transmission drive systems. Using components such as motors, shafts, flexible jaw couplings, fractional horsepower (FHP) chain drives, FHP V-belt drives, spur gear drives, pillow block bearings, and flange bearings, students learn to follow mechanical drive safety rules; mount and level motors; test and correct for soft foot; install components and shafts with keyways; size keys; align shafts using feeler gauge and straightedge methods; calculate speed and torque from component size ratios; interpret rotary power specifications; determine mechanical efficiency; grease bearings and refill oil lubrication reservoirs; interpret lubrication specifications; and identify components using model numbers. Aligns with Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) credentials. Designed for individuals preparing to enter or advance in the manufacturing workforce. This training provides foundational knowledge and practical skills needed in today’s technology-driven production environments. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to sit for the SACA C-210 Mechanical Power Systems I certification exam(s) and take the next step toward a career in advanced manufacturing. Please
note: If you are new to the manufacturing industry and have no previous experience, starting with C-101 Basic Operations is strongly suggested. Staff can assist with discussing options and the potential to test out of C-101. Recommended Prerequisite: IMT910.600 Materials: All required instructional materials are included in the course fee.
