Studying Accounting at Waubonsee
At Waubonsee, our Accounting Program combines classroom education with work experience.
Essential foundations of accounting are key elements of curriculum: payroll, finance, managerial, tax and cost accounting among others.
Our instructors are licensed Certified Public Accountants with real world knowledge and years of invaluable experience, and they teach the latest accounting techniques, software platforms and applications.
You can graduate with an associate degree or one of several certificates, ready to transfer to a four-year university or apply your skill in finance to an industry of particular interest to you for a remarkably rewarding career.
Working in Accounting
You’ll start working in accounting while you’re still at Waubonsee: Our students take their skills to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, preparing taxes for low- to moderate-income families in our community. Many students also obtain an internship.
Work experience gained in college is vital to being competitive after graduation, whether you plan to work in public accounting, within a government agency, for a multinational company, with a non-profit organization or for a small business; accounting employment opportunities can be found within every industry.
