This course is an overview of the paralegal field and assists students to become familiar with aspects of the legal system. Topics include the functions of law, courts and lawyers in modern society, practice areas within the law, and sources of law. The Professional responsibilities of the lawyer and the training and role of a paralegal will also be covered.

Classes meet on regularly scheduled days and times via Zoom. Required Zoom class meetings are on Thursday from 6:30 - 9:15 pm.  Scheduled on ZOOM days: 08/20, 09/03, 09/17, 10/01, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, 12/03. This course uses Open Educational Resources (OER) instead of traditional textbooks, so there is no cost for course materials. Your instructor will provide direct access to all required materials through the course syllabus or on Canvas.
