Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Fox Valley Robotics, will host the 2026 VEX V5 Robotics State Championship on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. The two-day competition will take place in the Academic and Professional Center at the Sugar Grove Campus, Rt. 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Admission for spectators is free, and the public is invited to attend.
The competition will kick off on Friday with the Illinois Vex V5RC Middle School State Championship, followed by the Illinois Vex V5RC High School State Championship, concluding on Saturday. These championships culminate from several months of hard work and qualifying competitions with robotic designs, advanced programming, strategic thinking, and teamwork.
Teams will compete for trophies and awards recognizing excellence in performance, design, programming, and engineering documentation. Each of these state championships will send teams on to the World Championship which will be held in April in St. Louis.
The VEX V5 Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF), is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally, with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries playing in over 1,700 competitions worldwide.
