The Waubonsee Community College Foundation will host its annual golf outing fundraiser on Monday, September 15, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurora Country Club, and the community is invited to make a difference while enjoying a day on the course. Proceeds from this event solely benefit the Waubonsee Foundation Scholarship Program, which aids hundreds of Waubonsee students each year in achieving their educational and career goals.
The Golf Outing is a signature event for the Waubonsee Foundation, raising critical funds for scholarships. Scholarship recipients at Waubonsee are 2.25 times more likely to graduate than non-recipients. And when they graduate, they don’t just succeed personally—they contribute meaningfully to our local workforce, economy, and neighborhoods.
The Foundation’s goal is to raise sufficient financial resources to provide scholarship opportunities and to equitably award those scholarships to students to help them achieve their educational goals. For the 2025-26 academic year, the Foundation awarded 420 scholarships but received 748 eligible applications – a 48% increase from the previous year - the need continues to far exceed available resources.
"The Golf Outing is one of my favorite events to attend each year,” said Dr. Melinda Tejada, Vice President of Community Engagement and Executive Director of the Foundation. “The opportunity to see our supporters each year, to know that we are making a difference for our students, is so meaningful."
Event check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch buffet with special remarks from Waubonsee President Dr. Brian Knetl and Brian Dolan, the Foundation's
Golf Committee Chair. At 12:30 p.m., golfers will head out on the parkland-style course. The event will close with an awards reception at 4:45 p.m.
As always, the public is invited to support this fundraiser in a way that is most accessible. Sponsorship options begin at $438 – equal to the cost of one 3-credit hour class at Waubonsee. The cost to participate is $1,752 for a foursome, which is equal to the cost of one full-time semester at Waubonsee. Registration includes 18 holes of golf, entry for on-course individual and team contests (longest putt, closest to the pin, longest drive, hole-in-one, overall lowest score for women, men, and mixed team categories), lunch, appetizers, and two drink tickets. A cash bar will also be available. To register, visit waubonsee.edu/golfouting.
