The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees seated Daniela Alfano to serve as the student trustee for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The student trustee is selected by the student body and serves as a liaison between the Board of Trustees and the Student Senate, representing student interests at the board level. Alfano was seated at the board meeting held on April 15.
Alfano, of North Aurora, is pursuing an Associate in Science with a major in Biology. A graduate of Yorkville High School, she plans to transfer to either Michigan State University or Grand Valley State University to continue her education on a pre-med track, with the goal of specializing in neurology.
As a first-generation college student, Alfano is passionate about student engagement and advocacy. She is actively involved on campus and values the opportunities Waubonsee provides for students to connect through clubs, organizations, conferences and events. Alfano believes these experiences are essential to student growth, leadership development and academic success.
Alfano plans to use her role as student trustee to represent and support all students, particularly those who may feel unsure or unheard as they navigate college. “I am committed to representing every student voice and helping build a more inclusive, connected and engaging campus community,” said Alfano.
