

Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kimberly Chavis, of Plainfield, as the Provost and Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Success. Dr. Chavis has been serving in the role on an interim basis since January 2025.
With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Chavis brings extensive expertise in academic leadership, teaching and learning, and organizational effectiveness. Her diverse academic background includes master’s degrees in Health Law, Business Administration and Cannabis Science and Therapeutics. Throughout her career, she has overseen large academic divisions, led the development of innovative academic programs, directed institutional and specialized accreditation efforts, ensured regulatory compliance, and managed capital construction projects.
Dr. Chavis has seen firsthand the transformative power of education through her years in the classroom. She served for over a decade as a tenured faculty member with the City Colleges of Chicago.
“Dr. Chavis has demonstrated that she listens, promotes student success, and is committed to our RISE 2030 goals,” said Waubonsee President Dr. Brian Knetl.
