Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce a series of affordable summer youth camps designed to help area students build skills, spark curiosity, and stay active. Offered in partnership with the Sugar Grove Park District and featuring instruction from Waubonsee’s faculty and staff, this year’s summer schedule provides a welcoming environment for multiple age groups and interests.
The summer lineup kicks off with the Co-Ed Youth Basketball Camp, running from June 15 through June 18. Led by Waubonsee's award-winning Head Coach Lance Robinson and coaching staff, this camp focuses on building essential basketball fundamentals in a fun, competitive atmosphere. The program is split by age groups, hosting third through fifth graders from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by sixth through eighth graders from noon to 2 p.m. Campers are required to wear athletic attire and gym shoes, and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt included with registration. Registration is $60.
The Girls Youth Volleyball Camp, running June 22 and June 23, is designed specifically for girls in fifth through eighth grade. This targeted camp helps players elevate their game by mastering the core fundamentals of passing, setting, serving, and hitting. The cost to attend is $55, and volleyball campers will receive guided instruction directly from Waubonsee's collegiate volleyball coaches and staff.
A high-energy Youth Cheer Camp will run June 24 and June 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Also presented in partnership with the Sugar Grove Park District, this camp invites children ages 5 and older to train alongside Waubonsee’s Cheer Team. Campers will learn fundamentals and routines, culminating in a special showcase performance for family and friends on June 25 at 11:30 a.m. The cost to attend is $55, which includes a cheer bow, a camp T-shirt, and a daily snack.
Parents can register online for the Co-Ed Youth Basketball Camp, Girls Youth Volleyball Camp, or the Youth Cheer Camp through the Sugar Grove Park District at sgparks.org by the June 11 deadline.
The Trades, Tech, and Design Sparkforce Manufacturing Camp, offered exclusively by Waubonsee’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) faculty and staff, will provide girls ages 13 to 16 with hands-on experience in high-demand fields such as welding, automotive service technology, HVAC, machine tool technology, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), and engineering. The Sparkforce Manufacturing Camp will be held from June 22 through June 25, running daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to register is $100.
