In an effort to honor extracurricular excellence, Waubonsee Community College’s Club Council, Student Senate and Student Life Department recently announced the college’s Student Life Organization Awards for the 2014-15 academic year.
Taking home both the Outstanding Student Organization and Student Life Teamwork Awards was Delta Sigma Omicron, a group for those interested in advocating for or working with individuals with disabilities.
The group’s “zumbathon” event, which raised money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, was named the year’s Outstanding Student Activity, with the event’s organizers, Amanda Klein and Jessica Lukas, both of Batavia, sharing Outstanding Organization Member honors for their efforts.
Also recognized was Nixa Del Real Robles, of Aurora, who earned Outstanding Organization Officer honors for the leadership she demonstrated as president of the college’s Latinos Unidos group.
