Waubonsee Community College will provide new experiences for this year’s graduating class.

On Friday, May 29 at 7 p.m., the college will host a virtual commencement ceremony. This event will feature remarks from Dr. Christine Sobek, president of Waubonsee, and Mr. James Pilmer, the commencement speaker for this year’s previously scheduled traditional commencement ceremony.

The college will also host a drive-thru celebration of the graduates on the Sugar Grove Campus on the evening of June 5. Graduates will be able to drive through the campus with their family and friends in their cars while employees of the college applaud, cheer, and wave signs to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s graduates. Students will receive more detailed information from the college about the event.

Safety measures will be in place including social distancing and the wearing of personal protective equipment.

This year’s traditional commencement ceremony was canceled in March in order to help maintain the health and safety of the college community. Visit www.waubonsee.edu/graduation to watch this year’s virtual commencement ceremony.
