Waubonsee Community College has partnered with the American Historical Association (AHA) to build a program that will better serve Waubonsee students.

The AHA has received a $1.65 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to lead the “History Gateways” program. The program will re-evaluate introductory college-level history courses at Waubonsee and will implement changes to the curriculum based on the evaluation. The AHA, in collaboration with education researchers and faculty professional development specialists at the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education, will work with history faculty to rethink what it means to be “introduced” to history at the post-secondary level.

This initiative will work with 11 two-year and four-year institutions in Illinois, Texas and New York. The program will launch in January of 2019 and will continue until December of 2022.
