Waubonsee Community College invites history lovers and railroad buffs alike to a free program that explores the intertwined history of the city of Aurora and the Burlington Railroad.

“On the Same Track – Aurora and the Burlington Railroad” is scheduled on Thursday, March 23, at 7 p.m. at the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus. Leo Phillipp, the presenter, is a former railroad brakeman and conductor who has published numerous articles on railroad history.

Phillipp will discuss how the railroad fueled Aurora’s growth and how the city, in turn, helped the railroad expand to become Aurora’s largest employer for many years. For more information, call Waubonsee’s Community Education department at (630) 466-2360 or email communityed@waubonsee.edu.
