Waubonsee Community College has recently been approved as an Entitled Institution for the Gateways to Opportunity® with three new credentials and the reaffirmation of three existing credentials.

The new credentials are Early Childhood Education (ECE) Credential – Level 3, Infant Toddler Credential – Level 3 and Illinois Director Credential – Level 1. The reaffirmed credentials are ECE Credential Levels 2 and 4 and the Infant Toddler Credentials 2 and 4.

Students at Waubonsee have the opportunity to qualify for state-recognized credentials as they take courses or complete a degree through the Early Childhood Education Department.

Waubonsee is among a select group of institutions in Illinois to be entitled for the Gateways to Opportunity Credentials. All Gateways to Opportunity Credentials have competencies that reflect multiple professional standards, including National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards.

Waubonsee offers six different degrees and certificates in Early Childhood Education with flexible class options. Classes are available online, in person at the Sugar Grove and Aurora Downtown Campuses, and in hybrid form that combines online and in-person learning.
