In February, one of America’s most beloved musicals will spring to life close to home, when Avenue J Studios and Waubonsee Community College present “Seussical.”

Based on the books of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss, Avenue J’s production will feature the work of Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, which brings favorite characters to life, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Lazy Mayzie and Jojo, a little boy with a big imagination. The colorful characters will transport guests from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, and even the microscopic world of the Whos.

Performances of “Seussical” will take place Friday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. All performances will be in the Waubonsee Community College Auditorium on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 online at www.waubonseetickets.com, or in person at the door for $20.
