The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Laura Ortiz, of Naperville, to the position of Dean for Social Sciences, Education and World Languages at their meeting Dec. 17.
For the past 15 years, Ortiz has worked at College of DuPage, first as an adjunct instructor and then as a full-time Associate Professor of Spanish. While a professor, she performed the duties of Humanities Area Coordinator, a role that helped her transition to the college’s administrative team. She most recently served as COD’s Associate Dean of Humanities and Speech Communication.
Ortiz earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University. She also holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Spanish from Roosevelt University and Iowa State University, respectively.
