Waubonsee Community College Alumnus, Diana Iracheta, received the Illinois Community College Trustee Association (ICCTA) Pacesetter Award.

The Pacesetter Award recognizes the success stories of Illinois’ more recent community college students.

Iracheta immigrated to the United States from Mexico when she was 12 years old. She learned English while in middle school, graduated from high school in 2014, and then attended Waubonsee Community College as a Gustafson Scholar to study engineering. She earned an Associate in Science degree in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University in 2019. She now works as an engineer in the Chicago area. In addition to her professional work, Iracheta is committed to inspiring young Latina women to enter Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields.

Iracheta was recognized by the ICCTA and Waubonsee’s Board of Trustees at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on October 21.
