Part of the college experience is meeting new and interesting people. Some of the people you meet in college can be called characters. Sometimes you meet a real character.

Rusty, the mascot for the Chicago Steel hockey team, visited the Sugar Grove Campus on Wednesday, Feb. 21 to hang out with students. One of those students is clearly a fan of both the Steel and Waubonsee.

Briana Hartmann, from Oswego, is studying criminal justice at Waubonsee and wants to be a police officer in the area. She was wearing a Chicago Steel jersey on Wednesday when Rusty came by the Student Center. Hartmann goes to quite a few games.

As Rusty made his rounds throughout the campus, he was able to meet students and catch up on some studying in the library, visit a classroom and play soccer in the Field House.

Overall, the students, staff and faculty enjoyed having the special guest visit the campus.
