Retired Waubonsee Community College board member, Richard C. Bodie, M.D., passed away on January 19. He served on the board from 1998 until he retired in April 2019.

Dr. Bodie was appointed to the board after his wife, Janet Bodie, passed away in November 1997. Mrs. Bodie had served on the college’s board of trustees since 1980. Dr. Bodie ran for election to the position after his initial appointed term. Dr. Bodie served as a member of the board’s Policy Committee. He also served as the college’s representative to the Illinois Community College Trustee Association (ICCTA) and was an ICCTA Executive Committee member. He received three Trustee Education Awards from the ICCTA and was awarded an ICCTA Certificate of Merit in June 2019.

Dr. Bodie established and continued to fund the Janet Bodie Memorial Scholarship in memory of his late wife. In 1992, Bodie Hall was named in honor of Mrs. Bodie.

The Bodie family service to Waubonsee Community College spanned 38 years. The Waubonsee Community College family extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the Bodie family.

Visitation is scheduled for January 24, from 4 until 8 p.m. at The Healy Chapel in Sugar Grove, Illinois. The funeral mass will be held on January 25 at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in North Aurora, Illinois.
