Lulu Blacksmith, Director of Governmental and Multicultural Affairs at Waubonsee Community College, has been recognized for her work to improve the lives of Latinos and other minorities at the college and in local communities.
On Nov. 22, the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation (ILLCF) presented Blacksmith with a Latino Leadership Award.
The award was presented during the organization’s 11th annual conference, “La Presencia Latina: Rights for Others, Ourselves, Our Country,” in Chicago.
Since 2002, the ILLCF has served Latino residents of Illinois, as well as those who work and live within Latino communities statewide.
The Foundation includes members of the Illinois General Assembly, representatives of state government agencies and business owners.
