This course is an introduction to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding principles for services rendered by physicians. Practice in the assignment of valid diagnostic codes is emphasized to orient the students to coding requirements, terminology and characteristics. Repeatable to a maximum of 12 semester hours; 3 semester hours may apply to a degree or certificate. Prereq, C or better in HIT110; C or better in HIT220 or concurrent enrollment in HIT220
