Waubonsee Announces High School Drafting Contest Winners
Waubonsee Community College recently hosted the annual Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA) regional competition at its Sugar Grove Campus. More than 65 students from seven area high schools competed in eight subject areas.
Earning top scores were Aurora Central Catholic students Thomas Ridge (introductory board) and Derek Harris (assembly modeling); Waubonsie Valley High School students James Travis (introductory computer-aided drafting), Nate Otten (machine computer-aided drafting), Jeremy Weiland (architectural board) and Ricardo Lisboa (3-D architectural computer-aided drafting). West Aurora’s Jose Torres won the 2-D architectural computer-aided drafting contest, while Geneva’s Madison Olesen took the solids computer-aided drafting category.
Waubonsee offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree in computer-aided design and drafting, as well as certificates in computer-aided mechanical drafting, 3-D modeling and architectural drafting.
