Waubonsee Faculty Member Serves on Breast Cancer Coalition

Waubonsee Community College Assistant Professor of English Teri Fuller, of Geneva, was recently named coordinator for the Illinois Steering Board of the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC).

Based in Washington, D.C., the NBCC was started in 1991 with the primary goals of research, access and influence. In September 2010, the group announced its Breast Cancer Deadline 2020 initiative, which vows to end breast cancer by Jan. 1, 2020, by bringing urgency and accountability to the cause.

A breast cancer survivor, Fuller is also part of the leadership team for the Chicagoland Chapter of the Young Survivor Coalition, which supports women aged 40 and under diagnosed with breast cancer. She has served as a consumer advocate for the Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, volunteered as an Angel Mentor for the one-on-one cancer support network Imerman Angels, and worked with the LivingWell Cancer Center in Geneva.
