Waubonsee won three Pride of CASE V awards in the 2011 competition — the only community college to receive any awards. CASE District V awarded Waubonsee a gold Pride of CASE V award for excellence in a series of special events for the “Opening Doors to Opportunity” campaign to open the new Plano Campus with a Grand Opening ceremony and subsequent Community Open House. The college received a silver Pride of CASE V award for a photo entitled “Open Hoods, Open Doors” that depicts recent female automotive graduate Alexandra Domar, of Maple Park, and a bronze Pride of CASE V award for the relaunched college website. CASE V includes colleges, universities, and private and independent primary and secondary schools in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Waubonsee received six Medallion awards at the District Three NCMPR conference that recently took place in Detroit. Waubonsee received one gold, one silver and four bronze Medallion awards. Waubonsee won gold in the newsletter category for its Learning First! student newsletter, silver in the government/community relations project category for the college’s new Plano Campus community awareness campaign, and bronze in the annual report category for the 2010 Report to the Community, in the sports brochure category, in the postcard category for the Aurora Campus Grand Opening postcard and in the promotion campaign for a special event category for the new downtown Aurora Campus Grand Opening. NCMPR has more than 1,500 members from nearly 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries. NCMPR’s District Three includes two-year colleges from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Ontario, Canada.
Competing against 6,000 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and other international markets, Waubonsee received seven MarCom awards — two platinum awards (the top award), three gold and two honorable mentions. Waubonsee won platinum awards for the Aurora Campus Grand Opening and the 2010 Report to the Community and gold awards for the 2010 television commercial, the Learning First! student newsletter, and Plano Campus Grand Opening invitation. The college received honorable mentions for the college website and Plano trade show display.
