During National Volunteer Week, the Adult Literacy Project is recognizing the people that make its program a success.

Volunteers Recognized During Special Week

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Waubonsee's Adult Literacy Project is taking the time to recognize those who make their program a success. From April 10 - 16, a large banner will hang near the main entrance at the Aurora Campus. On it are the names of the 174 volunteers who have helped tutor more than 1,000 students this past year.

The volunteers help in the ESL and ABE/GED classes at Waubonsee's four campuses, as well as at off-site locations.

“The Adult Literacy Project could not function without the volunteer tutors," said Elsie Mills, Volunteer Tutor Coordinator. "We can’t thank them enough for the time and commitment they give to the students and the program.”

If you are interested in becoming a literacy volunteer, please call Elsie at (630) 801-7900, ext. 4221.
