Waubonsee Presents Disability-Themed Film and Discussion
Waubonsee Community College will celebrate disability awareness with a free screening of “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in room 120 of the Academic and Professional Center on the north side of the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Waubonsee’s Access Center for Students with Disabilities Manager Iris Hansen will facilitate a discussion following the film.
Made in 1993 and starring Johnny Depp, Juliette Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio, “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” explores themes of family, small town life and disability. It is rated PG-13.
This is the second screening of the college’s Diversity Film Series, sponsored by Waubonsee’s Diversity Leadership Council.
